Reeling

Reeling from the pain

Of a hurt that runs so deep

Nothing can assuage it

Nothing can make it go away

I wish I could bury it

Force it to go away

Wanting to be free of the pain

Needing to be free of the pain

All I can do is hurt

I can’t think clearly for the pain

That has caused my heart to crack

It’s too late to mend the hurt

To forgive the hurt would be hard

Harder still is to forget it.

My dilemma is as old as time

Will my heart heal,

Can my heart heal

From the blow it received

I hope so; I need it to

So that I may be free

To be happy again.
